Internet and Propaganda model

Now days’ broadcasting has taken a change and has advanced to a point where it’s called narrowcasting. There are multiple sources of information and since there are various audiences and interests, the communication media challenges the propaganda model by increasing the number of channels in which information can reach the public. The internet is one of those big channels and has had a huge impact on this situation.
With the internet, ownership has been changed. People on the internet can set up their own website with its own domain name for hosting fees as low as a dollar per month. With no extra cost they can also download and install free source software that have feature comparable complexity compared to newspapers. A lot of people have been doing this and have been becoming highly successful. Internet publishing is a lot lower than the price to enter into tradition media like newspaper and TV.
Advertising on the internet may attract more income than ad free sites. But the ads themselves are supposed as such a pain by the readers. A lot of the advertising models rely on Google ads, in which the selection of advertising is based on the search engine. They have key words that match the advertiser’s keyword so they can place their ads on sites that are like their product. All websites have that contain content that matches another advertiser’s word. Moving on, some top websites don’t like having Google or other ads on their site even though it could generate millions of dollars. Instead they raise funds through appeals for donations from users and corporate grants.
Many internet media are sources of Flak and a lot people in America use this to their own advantage. It’s not of a restraining to free dialog. Lawsuits are difficult to mount and are even harder to win. People now days can use the internet to look up anything and use it to their advantage. Traditional journalist have their official sources which is based on their “beats” They hear the information from people they have heard from in pasted and it becomes a regular source. Now with having the internet you don’t need to ask people, you have search engines waiting to solve your questions with people that have already got the information from other sources.
So coming to a conclusion the internet has changed the propaganda model in many ways. People have a lot of ways of finding information and now the internet is a good way to do that. People don’t have to own their company; they can just set up websites with a domain name and having a hosting fee that is super cheap. There are more ways information can reach the public in cheaper ways instead of having one to many broadcasts they have one to one systems to do that job
